How did this happen. I am so, so ashamed of myself. I used to weigh in 13 stone, then overhauled my whole diet and got down to 9stone 8lb.

But I've put it all back on. And so much more. This is shameful and I cannot believe I have let it get this bad. I've even had to buy some size 20 tops. I have tried slimming world but that didn't really
Work for me. So I'm back to calorie counting. And 5:2. From today. I've got to stop making excuses. I am going on an amazing holiday in January with my 2 best friends and. CAN'T be the size I am now.

I am sick of feeling tired, uncomfortable and just plain shit because of what I eat. I've taken before photos (won't post them as they would scar you forever) and have stuck a photo of myself at my smallest when I still thought I looked fat on the fridge for inspiration. I can do this!!!

Do you know where your eating has gone wrong?

My top tip is making sure you have a good amount of protein. It really curbs the appetite. So that and making sure your time is filled with interesting stuff that does not involve food. So box sets, books, going out for walks. Is there any exercise you like? Swimming?

MoonPower · 02/09/2017 08:40

What did you do last time you lost all the weight OP?

Yep I know exactly where it went wrong. I snack constantly. And I'll think nothing if eating a full pack of biscuits followed by a couple of bags of crisps then a takeaway for tea. Which is just vile.

Definitely upping my protein. Just got back from shopping and filled my trolley with healthy food and more protein sources. I just need to do this. It's horrible and feel like crap :(

I did the 5:2 diet and swam everyday. Can't go swimming anymore( well not everyday) due to childcare but going to start walking home from work and upping my excersise when dc are with their dad

I feel your pain. I'm 5'1" and 90kg ShockBlush

My problem is wine so I have given up alcohol for September to see if this helps.

I also do weight training at the gym 2-3 times a week so I don't mind if my weight itself doesn't change but I want to get rid of my flab and to reduce my clothes size. Have crept up from size 14 to 18/20.

Low carbing works best for me so I shall do that as well.

You sound very down on yourself. Don't be. These 'junk' foods cause problems because they actually effect the body differently. Biologically. They don't curb the appetite and can actually make you crave more. Don't have them in the house.

And look for really consuming distractions. Do you like reading?

Your holiday is an excellent target and so are photos. I did this recently and I could see a difference so it kept me motivated. I've been using my fitness pal to track food cos I realized even when I thought I'd been healthy I had snacked too much so a bit like you. But yeah don't beat yourself up. Anyone can put on weight at least you're doing something about it now. Good luck. Also 5ft 2 so I know how you don't actually need to have that much to slowly gain the weight when you're short!!

MiniAlphaBravo · 02/09/2017 10:42

Take a pic every week in same clothes

TellysAndWellys · 02/09/2017 10:49

Thanks Everyone Flowers

Yep I do feel really down, I think because I've just let it get this bad. And I worked SO SO hard to lose the weight before and yet here I am, a stone and half heavier then I was at my fattest before!

I would find low carb impossible, but I'm hoping if I stick to 5:2, and start going on long walks it'll make a big difference.

I miss feeling nice and looking lovely in clothes and above that, it's really starting to have an impact on my confidence which has never been a problem before. I just feel like the fat friend. Going to go swimming later and have booked an excercise class for tomorrow morning. Then when dc get back tomorrow, going to go for a nice long walk. Just need to stay away from the snack. and the chippy

Ok so today I've had:
Breakfast-banana, strawberry, raspberries, blueberries and full fat Greek yoghurt
Dinner- small jacket potato and beans (followed by 1 stick of cheese)
Tea: Quorn steak with baby potatoes, carrots, broccoli and sweetcorn with a small yoghurt for after.

Drank 3 litres of water and calories come to 1123. Going to my mates tonight for food (there's a few of us going) but have said I've already had tea so I'm ok. 1 day down, 1000000000000 to go 💪🏻

If you find it slow going, you could forgo the banana in the yoghurt and just have berry fruits. Less carbs and calories. A slice of whole meal toast would probably be less than the potato. But it sounds like you are doing well. Keep it up!

antimatter · 02/09/2017 18:28

I feel for you, I am 13st 10lb and 5'2''
It took me 4 years to get down to this weight from 15st 5lb. The last few pounds I lost before summer holidays by doing 16:8 but had to really eat more regularly due to taking antibiotics for helicobacter.
I am hoping to slowly go back to 16:8 again. It suits my day rhythm.

WhingyNinja · 02/09/2017 19:01

Oh, Wellys, I am right there with you, I'm 5ft 2 and 12.5 stone and feel awful about myself, I actually look pregnant now. I have spoken to a counsellor about binge eating disorder as I would eat packets of biscuits and bags of cookies in one sitting up to 5 times a week and be very secretive about my eating which isn't healthy.

We can do this, my daughter is 2 at the end of the month and I went to be in the 11s before then Smile good luck! I like PP's suggestion of taking a picture every week in the same clothes. I shall be doing that!

CookieDoughKid · 02/09/2017 19:08

Try to aim for exercise everyday. That would make a massive difference as it raises your metabolism and burns more calories than just diet alone. Can be just a 10mins walk but make it a fast one enough to get you bit sweaty.

CookieDoughKid · 02/09/2017 19:09

If you eating lots of snacks you should aim a bigger version of main meals but piled much more with veg and protein like chicken. Don't stop snacks but start weaning down.

TellysAndWellys · 03/09/2017 13:18

Thanks again everyone for your support! Managed to resist the takeaway last night and stuck to my water.

Been really good today, no snacking as of yet! Going take dc for a long walk this evening if the rain stops. Back to work tomorrow which is where I'm going to really struggle BUT I can do this!

OP posts:
WhingyNinja · 03/09/2017 16:17

Yes you can! I'm at home with DD during the week and the temptation to eat lots of delicious and naughty things is there, I shall resist!

TellysAndWellys · 03/09/2017 16:38

Thanks Whingy! I stopped taking my bank card to work... and just paid using Apple Pay instead 🙈

My plan is to take yummy but healthy (if it exists) food in so it gives me something to look forward to. It's just hard, right now I'm not hungry at all but I'm already thinking of nipping to the shop to get a bag of crisps!!! It's as if my greed is all in my mind rather than my stomach. Going to go and tidy ds's bedroom/tip to distract me. Sad times ha

I can relate op. I'm 5'2 and 14 stone. I've dropped down to 10 stone in the past , put it all back on, dropped down to 12, put it back on....
My fridge is full of healthy goodies. I had great success with 5:2 so I'm jumping into that starting tomorrow. How often do you plan on weighing in? I can join you

ponderingprobably · 03/09/2017 16:50

You'll have to compile a list of non food treats for yourself.

  1. fantastic book.
  2. box set / film (YouTube has some old tv serials you can revisit. Just type in the title.)
  3. bath with favourite toiletries.
  4. looking through old photos.
  5. listening to favourite music.
  6. trying new makeup looks.
TellysAndWellys · 03/09/2017 18:37

I'm planning on weighing myself every Saturday morning if you fancy it Khajiit? 5:2 worked amazingly for me too, but I did it when I worked evenings before but now I work Monday- Friday, I think I'll struggle as I get so bored at work. Do you have nothing all day then a 500 calorie meal in the evening or do you try to stagger you calories throughout the day?

That's a really good list pondering. I see eating as something to relieve the boredom, so need to think of something to distract my fat brain!

I am feeling really positive though today. Especially after this thread. I have done it before and can do it again!

The way I have found works best is keeping an eye on the calories but not being obsessive (being obsessive with any part of weight loss is bad in my experience - it becomes all or nothing). I add more protein, cut down on the carbs (by that I mean eat less of them at each meal not cutting them out) and trying to eat as many veg as I can each day (a bit of fruit but not too much). If I make say pesto pasta (which is my favourite) I would use only 70g of pasta then add spiralized courgette (cooked for a minute in a frying pan), petit pois, mushrooms and brocolli. Then I add my normal amount of pesto and a sprinkling of cheese. Still very tasty and probably about 600 cals but much healthier and I can never finish it. Adding a bit of chicken would make it more filling. It's not "diet food" but it's less than I would normally eat and if I do that across all my meals and add some exercise (bit of walking or jogging and a Davina dvd a couple of times a week) the weight comes off. I tend to stick at about 1400 cals but could eat 1700 and still lose just a bit slower.

Oh and I'll join you. I'm 5ft 3 and have also got down to 9st something in the past. I was 15st at the start of the year and managed to get down to 13st 9 but have stalled and need a push to lose another couple of stone. I want to get to near 10 eventually but find if I lose a stone or two then maintain for a few months I find it easier to not regain the weight.

TellysAndWellys · 04/09/2017 06:15

First day of 5:2! Going to fast all day then have a meal packed full of veg a protein tonight.

Good luck titsy, you've done really well to lose weight already. Fingers crossed we can all do this together!

I'm in, 5ft3 and 15st2. Its my first day back FT after 8yrs PT. Had planned to start the new year slimmer, but I should know by now that summer weight loss never happens for me. I've made soup (chicken and chorizo) that will do a few lunches and am planning on avoiding snacking (I'm planning on being too busy to snack). I'm gluten free so that makes it easier to avoid any staff room goodies.
