Calorie-counting

Calorie advice please - slow metabolism!

I'm 12 stone and want to lose 2 - 2.5 stone. I've had success with slimming world in the past but my metabolism has definitely slowed right down (underactive thyroid)- SW just not working any more. I thought calorie counting would maybe work better - all the 'free food' in SW appeals to me as I am a greedy bastard but I don't think I can get away with it any more!
So, I put in my details to an online diet thing and it was suggesting I start at 900kcals a day and go down to 850??? Please tell me this sounds wrong - I was hoping for something along the lines of 1300??

I am 11 stone 11 lbs today

I have an underactive thyroid and find that SW is not the right diet for me

I have been doing calorie counting of between 1200 and 1400 with two days (trying!) of 500 as with the 5:2 diet

How tall are you? I am neatly (but not quite) 5 foot 8

And my fitness pal made by calorie intake 1400 to lose a lb a week

Wow, that's a brilliant loss! I don't think I could do the 5/2, I'm just too greedy. I'm embarrassed to say I'm only 5'3'', so I'm pretty squidgy. Checked out my fitness pal, it's saying 1200 for 2lbs a week which doesn't sound too bad. Thanks!

I am greedy as well Grin I find it easier not to eat rather than eat a little bit!

My appetite on non fast days has gone down a bit so that helps and I also think that a lot of us do 5:2 without thinking about it

For example I used to get weighed at SW on a Thursday morning, so obviously I would need some treats that day...and then Fridays Friday isn't it?.. The you've got to have some treats on Saturday don't you. Then Sunday I would be good and Monday, then I'd check my weight realised I had stayed the same (or even gained) on Tuesday, have a panic attack and not eat for two days!!!!

I have never calorie counted but it is working and is an education!!!
