I've made a red velvet cake and was going to use Betty Crocker cream cheese in the middle, it is a cake to be decorated so could I use it to crumb coat and under the fondant icing or should I use buttercream?

Also will the cheese frosting be ok out of the fridge?

Thanks smile

This is an important cake ( see previous thread) so want to get it alright!

I googled and people said not to use cream cheese frosting for crumb coat so wanted to check

'Fresh' cream cheese frosting is not suitable, but Betty Crocker is cream cheese 'style' so it's more about how it tastes that what is it iyswim. Hope your cake goes well

Yep, sure enough it isn't suitable, as I found out, I made some and it dissolves the fondant grrr.
