Personalised Birth Date Prints(8 Posts)
In the past I have seen many prints where people customise babies births and wondered if you could give me some input on designs I have put together in the last week. I am a SAHM currently on maternity leave and would like a hobbie to keep me amused whilst the little one is asleep and give me something to focus on as I have been feeling quite low. I'd also appreciate any extra cash.
It's quite rough, but I wanted to make a start and get some feedback. The idea being that they will be mounted and put into either white or oak frames.
At the moment I am concentrating on birth prints, although I could expand to covering anniversaries, 21st, 30th, 40th birthday's, engagement celebrations etc.
Can you give me some honest feedback please? Is this something you would put in your child's nursery? Would you purchase this as an alternative Christening gift?
I have made a facebook page (not live yet as too early), so plan to advertise on various local sites through facebook, create an ebay account and also join etsy. I have previous experience in Sales / Advertising so feel I could really market these locally.
Stupid me - I can't seem to upload pictures of what I wanted feedbac on, doh!
Ah ha! Here is the link to a facebook page with 3 x examples, would really appreciate any feedback
Tbh i wouldnt pay more than £5 for something like that and that would be pushing it. Its very easy to do something like that on your own computer and stick it in a frame.
How much do they cost you to make and how much were you hoping to sell them for?
The frames are anything between 2.95 to buy to 10 pounds but depends on the size.
I agree someone with a bit of knowledge on publishing packages could make them themselves but I have seen some being quite popular on various sites
Notonthehighstreet sell similar items for around 12-24 pounds which I think is crazy!
I wouldn't be looking for more than 10 per frame. The only cost to me is quality card which can be bought in bulk so reduces cost, frames also in bulk, ink and mounting card so generally the cost would be pretty low if I was able to sell quite a few... Obviously it is a big IF!
I think I am just quite happy to have something to keep me busy more than anything else
Thanks for replying
I think your designs are lovely!
Agree that it might be a bit of a tough sell though, particularly if the most expensive cost is the frame - which some people might prefer to choose themselves anyway, to match decor.
How would you feel about offering a customised digital print-ready file for customers to print & frame the certificate themselves? I've seen similar services on Etsy where a general design is shown, then customers pay to have it customised with their text etc. and receive a printable JPG or PDF by email.
You could offer a printed & framed version as well, but having a digital option means that you aren't losing the folks who like to do these things themselves (once they've realised your designs are much nicer than their own designs, they can still concentrate on the printing and framing part!).
Thanks for your reply m0nkeynuts that's a really good idea, hadn't thought about that! Will do that also
