Why majority of the white people and most school administrations think that

a. All Asians are same and all blacks are same; put them in that common buckets?

There are so many variations and differences among different Asians. Indians are different from Pakistanis, different from Bangladeshis and so.

Similarly, Nigerians are different from Somalis, and so on.

In some ways, British born Asians and blacks have more in common with their white peers than their parents from Indians or Bangladeshis.

I am an Asian; in my did's class around 10 % are Asians(various). In every school activities, teachers tends to put all Asians in the same group. This makes the Asian kids to grow up with no close friends + does not help white kids to learn how to get on with non-whites people when they grow up.

Am I missing something here.?

I thought that the boxes did indicate certain differences - so black African, black Caribbean, Asian - Bangladeshi, Asian - Pakistani etc, black British etc. All the ones I've seen in recent years have done this, there's about 15 to choose from I think.

Also, referring to black people as blacks really doesn't read very well.

'The majority of the white people'. Generalising much? Seems more likely to be you, with statements like that.

School administrators don't make the forms up - government do - they just hand them out as instructed.

You could include in the white section French Scottish etc? But they don't.

Some are making noises about gender being more than male/female -

The teacher thing is a bit different - kids tend to gravitate towards people they feel comfortable with - on May occasions children are allowed to chose a group to work with - or they are split by ability

If it's a concern at your school - why by you ask?

I don't get this....

'Nigerians are different to Somalis'...?

I believe that Nigerians are different to Nigerians and Somalis and different to Somalis.

For me each individual person is different, and yes there are cultural norms - but you can't group together people living in the UK purely by the homeland of their parents'-parents.

You post seems to be coming from a place of stereotype and prejudice.
