Hi, we are relocating to rugby, but I'm Chinese and my husband is Indian British. We are looking for primary school for our kids . Worried about minor ethic bullying, can any one advise. We see the house in the catchment area of Clifton upton dunsmore and paddox primary school. Any one know about these two school? Many thanks

The bottom line is you wont know for sure until your child starts in school. The best you can do is look at the bullying policy/code/charter of the school in question and make sure its robust just in case.
At any one school there will be children who are bullied and those who are not. Bullying can happen for many other reasons or none at all besides skin colour.
What you can also do is make sure there are alternative schools nearby if your first choice doesn't work out.

The best advice I ever read about sending a non-white child to a very white school was from the mother of Samantha Mumba, the singer. She was going to be the only black (or mixed race - I can't exactly remember) child going to her primary school and her mother told her, "You are different so everyone will want to be your friend." Consequently young Samantha went into school feeling confident and with a big smile on her face and quickly made lots of friends.

Really though it will depend on the school.

You could ring and ask the schools if they have much ethnic mix, perhaps?
Most urban areas in Britain have some bme community, but sorry I don't know Rugby, or how diverse it is.
Is it worth asking on Rugby MN Local?
