3 months old and weighing 13lb - how much formula?

I'm sure I've seen on here a calculation for working out how much (on average) formula a baby should have, based I think on weight. I've tried doing some searches but cant find anthing.

DD has dropped another feed and has also dropped from 75th to 50th. Interested to know if, according to the offical guidelines, she's taking enough milk. She's happy and sleeping so I'm not worried but I would be interested to know what the 'official' guidelines show..

Usually there is a chart on the formula packet, though I don't know how many actually follow it.

There is one but it's just based on age. I'm sure I read on here that there was a ratio of weight to ounces of milk but of course I cant remember who posted it!

apparently... its 2 to 2 1/2 ounces per pound in 24 hours (so at 13 lbs she should take between 26 ounces and 32.5 ounces per 24 hours - I did that in case I wasn't being very clear rather than thinking you couldn't work it out and also to check my brain was still working)

If it makes you feel any better, dd is almost 5 months and today weighed 12 lbs 15 oz !! But she did start lower than the 0.4 centile and is now on 7 centile so is good !!

When ds3 was in hospital it was 150 ml for each kilo of baby per day, so if you have a 5 kg baby, thats 750 ml per day, divided into 6 feeds is 125ml a feed .

thanks chipmonkey, It makes a bit of difference calculating that way it seems but not very much.
I guess I'm showing my age by prefering the old fashioned ounces!

tbh so do I but they used the metric system in hospital. Actually with breastmilk I find ml better than oz though because you might only be expressing small amounts at a time.

yes, but its easier to add up the small numbers (ounces) !!! You wouldn't believe I was an accountant !
