I've got mine today and dd is only 8 weeks.

Is this normal? She also seems v fussy at the breast today - is that connected?

With dd1 as soon as she stopped feeding in the night (around 6 months).

DD2- is 11 months and only started last month. She has only fed at night since around 8 months.

Have you been overdoing it a bit - could it be something other than your period.

I stopped bleeding after around 4 weeks on dd1 but then had a bleed at 6 weeks that I though was period but turned out I had just been overdoing it a bit and needed to take it easy.

I got mine last month so 11 months after dd was born.

She's a real wee boob monster - don't know if this made it stay away longer.

It varies widely. I didn't get periods back until 9 months with DS and 13 months with DD, but I know several women who've been straight back into regular periods after childbirth with no break at all. It does seem terribly unfair.

Being fussy is often connected with maternal periods your supply tends to take a temporary hit but should sort itself out within a few days.

identical to you OP - 8 wks, fussy at breast then settled down, and AF has been crazily heavy ever since

Ooh, this is really interesting. DS is 8 weeks today, really fussy at boob and feeding loads. I thought it was a growth spurt, but maybe AF is coming too?

Anyone have PCOS or irregular periods before pregnancy? I've got no idea what to expect. Should probably start a new post!

7 or 8 months - with both dc.

Report
fillybuster · 19/10/2009 11:31

Ah ...sorry, obviously too long since dc2 was born and not near dc 3 arriving yet so have forgotten what its called!!

I was about 5 months both times - was round about when I stopped bfing full time. But I was still postpartum bleeding until about 4 weeks with both too...

2 months with ds, 4 months with dd. DD was/is a milk monster and I felt very hard done by!

Yank - I had very irregular periods before ds, so much so that I didn't realise I was pg until I was 7 weeks. My periods were so irregular that it was feasible that they would be as much as three weeks late. After ds they settled down to every four weeks, almost like clockwork! They're still a bit random at the moment but I think they're still settling down after dd.

I had one at 4 months, when DD went through a stage of sleeping well at night. The night feeds dropped off and I had a period. Then she started feeding at night again and they disappeared for another couple of months before starting again once we started weaning and eventually they were back to normal by about 9 months or so when she was reliably sleeping through the night.

So it is unusually early then. Grr. I have probably been overdoing it big time - cleaning out the house and just being manic in general so I guess it could be that.

Thanks.

i also go my af 8 weeks after birth with both my dds. and the post birth bleed lasted for 6 weeks. and it happened that way for my mum too. i think some women are just wired that way. make sure you use contraceptives if you arent hoping for a v small gap! i am not particularly overweight- bmi of 25 or 26.
