Say a Medela one, from ebay...

mrsgboring Wed 14-Oct-09 20:44:32

yes - it would be sterilised after all

ChasingSquirrels Wed 14-Oct-09 20:45:04

yes, and did

Fruitbatlings Wed 14-Oct-09 20:45:06

yes. you can sterilse it szo it's as good as new. Far cheaper than buying brand new smile

That is what i am thinking fruit. Did not successfully express last time, but used a manual one.

Think electric will be a better success but don't want to spend a fortune in case it does make a difference.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat Wed 14-Oct-09 20:48:17

in case it doesn't make a difference

Bicnod Wed 14-Oct-09 20:49:17

yes, and I do... a Medela electric one in fact and its pretty good. Hope it works out for you

jelliebelly Wed 14-Oct-09 20:49:57

Yes - why wouldn't you?

CMOTdibbler Wed 14-Oct-09 20:50:34

The Lactaline is a good one to buy second hand as the milk is totally separated from the motor part, so all contact parts can be well sterilised.

I bought my trusty Lactaline on ebay, and it was fantastic

Would have no problems with this, since they're sterilised. Any used whilst in hospital would be "2nd hand" and my mw lent me a couple to try out before buying my own.

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad Wed 14-Oct-09 20:51:58

Yep - both mine were 2nd hand!

iwascyteenagewerewolf Wed 14-Oct-09 20:53:30

I did, very happily (thanks spicemonster! )

MadBadandDangerousToKnow Wed 14-Oct-09 20:54:03

Yes, I did (a manual one).

Kerrymumbles Wed 14-Oct-09 20:54:38

eww no.

cooties.

seriously. I wouldn't.

MamaG Wed 14-Oct-09 20:56:21

<ahem>

bunnybunyip Wed 14-Oct-09 20:56:22

Yes, I did. I thought the idea was horrible before DS arrived (especilly as a colleague from work gave me mine!) but after using the hospital ones for 2 weeks was reassured; everything is sterilised hundreds of times afterall.

Misspaella Wed 14-Oct-09 20:56:40

Yup! My electric medela broke so bought Lactaline off ebay. Best buy ever. smile

I got an advent isis on ebay for a fiver it is great.

ilovemydogandmrobama Wed 14-Oct-09 21:06:50

I used a hospital pump when DS was in Children's Hospital.

hugmeandcatchthelurgi Wed 14-Oct-09 21:07:31

Yes i did.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat Wed 14-Oct-09 21:08:54

Well yes kerry you see I think I was once there. BUT...i also thought as several have said, that when in hospital i used one there and did not think twice about it being used before me, and I have changed my view. I think. I say I think. That is the reason for my post. To help me think whether I have or not.

But now I am confused about what to get...i had considered the Medela mini electric pump, i had made my mind up. But now I am not so sure hmm grin

Kerrymumbles Wed 14-Oct-09 21:10:42

i wouldn't use a hospital one either. I don't know, some things I'm just squeamish about. blood things, breastmilk things. Basically anything that can carry diseases like hiv, hepatitis, etc.

FrightNightFebes Wed 14-Oct-09 21:12:19

I used a boot electric and didn't get on with it at all and then tried the advent isis manual pump which is great- I think it was reccommended on MN

pooexplosions Wed 14-Oct-09 21:14:19

a breast pump can't carry diseases though hmm

I would, and did. A friend donated me hers after I lost part of mine. And I uses a hospital one too, which presumably was used by hundreds before me?

ilovemydogandmrobama Wed 14-Oct-09 21:15:16

Cooties are sooo 3rd grade... wink

Not sure though what diseases one can get via a pump?
