How long to breast feed for?

Where do I find information about how long to Breast feed for?
DS is 11 months and still feeds before work and when I get home, at bed time and during the night. He always seems hungry for milk when I get home. So I was wondering how long breastfeeding lasts for?

As long as you both want it to. I only stopped with DS1 at 2 yrs because I fell pg with DS2. My sister planned to bottle feed when she was pg, and is still feeding her 2 yr old ! Play it by ear, take each day as it comes.

I would carry on as long as you and LO both want to. Babies tend to self wean at any point from a year to 7 years I think, (when the adult teeth start to come through) and the world average is something like 4 years. Lots of people on here keep breastfeeding well into toddlerhood, as it still has many health benefits. Remember you can keep it just for bedtimes/times when LO is not well or whatever you feel comfortable with, if you are worried about what friends and family etc will say.

If you have had enough though, LO can have cow's milk (rather than formula) at 12 months.
