EBF baby - 3.5 months - screaming (in pain?) when trying to feed.

I have exclusivly breastfed DD from birth, with no problems. For the past 2 days she has been feeding fine at night and in the morning, but for her lunchtime and afternoon feeds she has barely lkatched on before she starts screaming and crying. It sounds like a pain cry, and she has real tears

My boobs aren't feeling particularly full around this time, so could it be frustration? (though it doesn't sound like her frustrated cry). And if so, why would she not try and get at least some milk before screaming?

She has little tooth bumps appearing so I thought it might be linked to that, but wouldn't that cause issues at all feeds?

I just don't know what might be causing this. Poor little thing is inconsolable.
Any ideas?

she doesn't have thrush does she? I have had experience of that.

not sure. how could I check? just look in her mouth? I was on antibiotics a couple of weeks ago so was expecting problems then, but she was fine with them.

yes, look for white patches on cheeks, tongue or inside lips.

Thrush can also present in a white coating on the tongue which cannot be wiped off. When my LO had thrush she has the white tongue, nothing on cheeks and it wasn't patchy, just looked like a milky tongue straight after a feed.

It could be teething - my little man is affected at some feeds and not all if going through a spell of teething. I found the teetha teething granules good but also dentinox. BTW he 'teethed' for about 3 months before any actually came through so I think a lot of it was just them moving about in his gums.

Thanks for all your advice. I have checked inside her mouth, but there are no white patches or white coating on her tongue.

Gruffalo - I think it might be tetthing. Will go and get some teething granules today.
