How bad is it to not wear nursing bras?

I have two lovely HotMilk bras which I wore for the first week but I truly cannot bear what they do to my norkage. I am a DD normally, but petite and short in stature and I look like a giant nork and not much else if I don't have underwire.

So, I'm wearing my usual kind of bras including strapless as it is hot and have been wearing strappy stuff.

Milk seems to be flowing okay and have no blockages as yet. This is 4th breastfeeding experience so would imagine milk ducts are all there and fine so am not going to stop development of such things this late in the day.

Are there reasons I do not know about for not wearing silly lacy undwerwired underwear?

How are you feeding in them? I had mastitis after a few days and I am convinced it was my ill fitting bra - it was the worst I have ever ever ever felt. If you are kind of folding your breast over it I think that could cause blockages, mine kinda flopped over my (feeding) bra but obviously was abit... err... folded, if you get what I mean. Anyhow I think you should just stick to nursing personally. & congratulations again

Erm, yes I am kind of flopping self out over top of bra and pushing bra cup under armpit, sort of. Bras are going to get a bit trashed I should imagine. When at home I manage to free entire breast but when doing this out and about, admittedly breast is a bit more squished up and prone perhaps to not draining evenly. This is because it takes two hands to get boob fully out of regular bras and much more exposure so I just get as far as is necessary to get nipple into baby's mouth iyswim.

I don't want mastitis, clearly, but I wonder how risky it is?

From what you are saying I would say a blockage is quite likely. I would just settle for looking like a giant nork to be honest, it can't be comfortable at all feeding like that. My favourite bra is the saggiest, whitest, thinnest bra I could find - not very flattering but when unclipped my breast is totally free which makes it very comforable, and very easy when out and about. Do you find your bras don't support enough so you are looking 'big' sort of nork length wise (please don't let me be the only one with nork-to-bellybuttom-syndrome!) - or the bras are making them stick out? Either way you could probably find a better bra - I have my super soft ones that aren't terribly supportive but very comfortable, and a more ' fashiony' padded one that looks like I have a normal bra on and holds them right up

Well, yes. I hate having such a huge chest. I am size 10 and 5'2" with long legs proportionately but a short body so it looks dreadful having a large chest. I've gone up to an E cup at the moment. I too have too much sagging now as well so I look big, droopy, and kind of matronly and it just makes all my clothes look wrong and frumpy.

The HotMilk bras are a good fit and quite a nice shape but despite this I still get a bit of a boob 'shelf' because of the weight versus softness of the bra.

Where d'ya get your padded nursing bra from?

I did get told off by a midwife for my lack of suitable atire when BF. They did, as she predicted, sag a little.

Padded will make them look bigger though - this is like my favourite one - I am a G cup and it makes them looks smaller, more natural and proportioned than the padded (which makes me look abit porn star ish )

What about bravado bras? They do a nice crossover effect one. In black or white.

i have a similar issue and wear an anita underwired nursing bra. it solves the mono boob issue and it it fits right theres no issue with the wires blocking any ducts. can't remember what website i bought it from , but this is the one i mean
