I am hoping for some advice as I seem to have sent my right boob into overdrive and would like it to change down a gear!
I have had a fast let down and a few oversupply issues from the start with my DD, who is now 11 weeks. Generally breastfeeding has been going really well and she's exclusively breast fed. I have always done single sided feeding, as DD simply only needs one side a time (will refuse the other if offered). My right breast has always produced more than my left, but things were starting to settle down.
During the hot weather, DD fed all the time. I was fine with this as I figured I needed to drink a lot in that weather and so she should too.
The problem is, she seems to have overstimulated supply in one breast to the extent that it is becoming engorged and painful. Last night, for example, I fed DD from the right side at 5am, and by 7:30 when she woke up, that side was already full and uncomfortable (and leaking everywhere). I fed her from the left and expressed on the right until it felt a little more comfortable, but that was about 3ozs. I can't keep doing that as I suspect it will make the situation worse!
Will things settle down on their own and does anyone have any suggestions for the meantime?
