Best diet plan for losing weight when bfing ?

After my last pregnancy I lost no weight in the first 6 months, then managed to get most of it off after I had stopped bfing.

This time I have some big social events coming up and I would really like to lose some weight in the next couple of months. DD is 10 weeks and fully bfed, and was a CS so I'm only just being able to get back to any kind of exercise.

So question is what sort of diet plan won't affect the bfing, but will work on my big fat bits ?

I have found that cutting out sugary/starchy foods and switching to herbal teas works wonders. I also do 50 situps each night, which is helping!

I'm in much the same situation, my dd is 10 weeks and in a couple of weeks I've got a wedding. My biggest problem is being so top heavy at the moment!

Good luck x

I have been to weightwatchers after all my children.I get extra points for breastfeeding and have now got to my goal weight, having lost 33 and a half pounds in 18 weeks.

I know what you mean about top heavy... I've gone up to a J cup and I can't find anything that will fit round it, far less look good and let me feed.

sorry, didn't see the CS bit, obviously situps are out of the question at the moment. Herbal teas are good though!

I'm a bit wary of trying to actively lose weight during early BFing since all my friends who tried to do this had problems with their supply?
I wonder whether you can try and eat really healthily (but NOT count calories etc) and do some exercise every day - we have a buggy exercise thing here in Bristol (buggy buddies) which is great to get you back to being active. I've also then got a personal trainer who lets me take my baby to the gym, it's not expensive because i share sessions with other mums.
Anyway i know that's personal to me so what I'm saying is - exercise is the only way I've ever really lost weight....and again you still need to be careful about your supply i think?

Do you HAVE to look skinny thin for the social events? Won't people a) understand you've got a baby and b) think you look great anyway?

Either way - a personal trainer should and would be able to help you tone certain bits and also not work you to the bone so you lost too much lost supply.

Waffle over! Sorry for going on

I lost half a stone breastfeeding! Stopped about 3 months ago and it's all back! Have to cut out the bad food now unfortunately.

For me breastfeeding made me superskinny. I need another baby!

don't do any sit ups after a cs for at least six months, otherwise your stomach muscles won't knit back together properly and you will permanently have a fat tum.

being skinny is vastly overrated anyway

Please don't get me wrong... I am not aiming for skinny... just not really fat ! I am currently a horrible 14 st at 5ft 2in so I really need to shift a couple of stone at least to be healthier.. and I can't face trying to find a wedding outfit in a "big" range... it's too too depressing.

I joined weight watchers when DS was 6 wks old - he is now 20wks old and I have lost 31lb. I haven't felt hungry (you get more calories to eat when bf) and it is the best diet I have ever done. I didn't lose an oz when I had DD nearly 4yrs ago so I am really happy with this.
