Top teeth

DS has only just cut his first teeth at the top, it is rubbing a bit when I feed him and feeling sore - not too bad, about like when you first start feeding (assuming no latch problems). I have put Lansinoh on and that seems to have helped, but will it get worse before it gets better? Should I get some nipple shields in preparation?

I fed all my children for a long time and only had mild discomfort with their teeth. Sometimes with my dd just now it depends on how she's lying or how far she takes nipple into mouth...the further the better as this avoids the teeth scraping. Persevere it will get better...no need for sheilds

Thanks minipink, good to know! He has broken the skin now - ouch. Any other experiences?

My 10 mo DS cut his top two about 3 weeks ago. It was worse when they were coming through but okayish now. I do find that I can't be lazy about the latch though - sometimes it's a bit shallow and that tends to be more 'ouch'! I currently have two little red marks on right nipple where he got me the other day but on the whole it's okay. (Oh, apart from when he falls asleep nursing and I find it impossible to unlatch him without a bit of scraping )

It will be okay. Honestly.

My DS has always been a bit of a clamp when it comes to unlatching!
