Infant feeding

This is the fourth time I have had mastitis in the last two months

Or it might be the fifth, I have lost track a bit.

I took antibiotics for the first two occasions, the others have been less serious and I have managed to wait it out with painkillers.

I have also had a blocked duct, several milk blisters and what I suspect is thrush, though I don't know for sure.

Why does it keep going wrong? I feed eight month dd on demand and her demands are very variable as she is teething and sometimes stops eating solids totally. I thought it might be ill fitting bras so I sorted that but things are no better.

I honestly feel like giving up but it it the only thing that settles dd and she has never taken a bottle. I am still feeding 2 year old ds in the morning too. It is so painful all the time I get quite miserable tbh.

Anything I could be doing to help?

i'd ring one of the BF counselling lines and ask their advice.
in fact, ring NOW! they will be open.

will they really be open now? Won't I be disturbing some poor volunteer counsellor's Saturday night?

thanks for responding, am feeling very grateful that someone cares and thinks it is serious enough to warrent help.

sorry, had to disappear last night,
you can ring them any time, that's what they'[re there for and the vast majority don't mind a call at any time esp for someone who is realy struggling adn getting to the point where they're thinking of giving up.

trust me. if you didn't call last night then give someone a ring today. hope you get it sorted because it's miserable feeding when it isn't going right and you're in pain
