what happens if you go to a faster flowing teat too soon does anyone know please?

Is it just a case of baby wont take the milk happily, it will spill out of the mouth etc or are there some more sinister problems that can occur like extra wind, upset tummy, possetting etc?

I moved the DTs from slow flow to medium flow when they were about 7 weeks old and it was supposed to be a 3 month plus teat - they didnt even seem to notice - just made the feeding a bit quicker! They are now 5 months and about a fortnight ago I moved them onto the fast flow which is supposed to be 6 months plus - have never noticed any extra wind/possetting, but having said that one of them is the King of Possetting so maybe it would be different for non-sicky babies!

thanks for the replies. DH wants to use the medium flow teat with DD who is nearly 7 weeks old - says she's much too slow and it might speed her up but I think it might be too soon.

just buy a couple of med flow teats and try them, if she is not ready they wont go to waste, she will take them soon enough.
