Ds2 has reflux and while I wouldn't have described his behaviour exactly in this way, I found this kellymom.com article (and the links within it) quite useful for trying to work out why he was screaming so much during feeds.

I have to say I was reluctant to acknowledge it was reflux in his case, because I know it can be overdiagnosed as a kind of 'umbrella' diagnosis even when the babies may have other problems. But in the end I acknowledged that it really was reflux, and getting the right medication has really made a difference.

Ds2's probs started at about 2 months old, I think.

hth a little.

I used to have to feed DS1 in 20 minute shifts (20 minutes on, 20 minutes of distraction, 20 min. back on... until he went to sleep), he would just take too much milk and then bring oodles of it back up.

Could he be filling up just a bit too much? Some babies have no idea when to stop....

I had exactly the same problem with my DS. I had oodles of milk which came out very fast. DS would pull away screeming and my milk was going everywhere. Nightmare! I'm afraid I don't have any good advice to offer- it just eventually resolved itself at about 8 -10 wks (can't remember exactly). Keep going it will all be ok. DS is 9 months now and still BF!

just looked at kellymom link and think it does sound like a fast let down aloha - he also does the biting the nipple thing and is also more comfortable lying down in bed to feed.....

hopefully it can be sorted...he hasnt been keen on feeding today - might try to express some...

I have fast let down, have to burp DS2 a lot.
Feeding off of only one breast each feed seemed to help... because he spent longer getting a low flow rather than getting lots of fast flow off of each side.
