Registrars promoting Hipp and C&G?

Did you get your newborn's birth certificate packaged up in a Folder from Hipp Organic formula or C&G?

I surely did! They are using taxpayer's money in order to make their brand known to parents. How the hell can't people in local gov'ts not see through this?

No (9 months ago). Didn't get any kind of folder.

(lulumama -- presume they are promoting Hipp and C&G in general as brands i.e. focusing on follow-on milk and purees)

Isn't there a registrar on here who was talking about this (unless I've muddled up forums).

She was saying that she was given promotional things and was supposed to give them out - but took them all out of the packs and 'lost' them, or something....

I'm pretty sure I didn't dream it!

Apparently this is quite common and it's a an agreement between the registrar national office and the milk manufacturers.

It's disgraceful. Is the milk mentioned follow-on, foxy...prob is, to get round the law

shocking, isn't it tiktok.

that they are putting, ahem, follow on promotion in the hands of new parents.

if people can't see that this is blatant promotion to new parents then i don't know what is.

i had dd1 in a cast at the time and a dh preparing to go to work abroad so it initially washed past me. dh registered dd2 and in my addled brain, i didn't at first make the connection.

i am annoyed at myself now for not noticing earlier.

Not here (9 months ago), got a fancy Welsh themed one

HV has a tray of hipp milk samples at baby clinic with a sign saying to help yourself, but she has left. For a bf promoton role. Gawd help us (Tiktok may remember my experience with her trying to sabotage bf although ds4 still not had formula only bm and solids)

I'm in Devon, registered DD 3 mo ago and also got loads of HIPP crap with cert which went straight in recycling (crap not cert)

Was a milestone calendar with stickers amongst other stuff.

Milestone calendar = sneaky trick to make you keep the flippin thing so you see the brand name for months and months.

They're not daft.

Exactly my thought TikTok - up on the wall for a year reminding you everytime you look at it..... Very clever advertising strategy

No - A's birth cert 3 months ago was put in a plain buff envelope.

Wasn't amused though by Bounty woman in hospital telling me I had to put my details on their mailing list in order ro get child benefit forms (I didn't, so wasn't allowed the pack despite midwives telling me everyone got them, but she gave me the forms in the end). wtf are a private company doing being in charge of benefit forms anyway?

Actually I got that Hipp calendar from somewhere - think i ended up on some mailing list anyway.
