Am getting BF DD's cold and don't want to! Can I take echinacea? Packet doesn't mention not taking when BF, but does say not suitable for children. Anyone know the answer??

I was told not to by my local herbal shop. Not suitable for the under twos' (or even threes), I can't remember which.

So no, sorry, you'll probably have to suffer. Or eat a lot of oranges!

It;s pointless anyway.
I've spent a farking fortune on the stuff over the years and to no avail.

I would have thought you could take it? But then I'm not a herbalist...

Surely it would be such a small amount that would pass through to breast milk?
You can have a drink of wine but not echinacea??

I gave my DS2 childrens mis for most af last winter and he was only 1 - they never said at the health food shop not to.... eeek!

I have been told by a qualified herbalist it is ok while breastfeeding & although small amounts pass into breastmilk it will be of benefit to the child. You can give it to babies in very very very small doses as in the Neal Yard herbal remedirs book for babies & children.
