Infant feeding

Am I the only exbf who actually thinks the Little Britian 'Bitty' sketch is hillarious?

And I am not getting at anyone who doesn't, but really does no one else think it's funny?

I don't think it's particularly funny

but then I'm probably a bit old and it's not aimed at me

I bf and think it is funny. I think you'd be hard pressed to find any extended bfeeders who fiund it funny though.

I love Bill Hicks, went to see him when I was just 17! Was funny and kind of frightening at the same time.

Cant see how it would offend bfeeders at all. Its just a joke. Cracks me up every time, especially the new USA series where they have gone to visit relatives who obviously didnt know about' bitty'!

Ok so not just me, again not getting at ANYONE, but I have just been on quite a few threads where people seem to be very offended by it.

I'm and extended breastfeeder. The sketch doesn't offend me but some twat levelling it at me as an insult would. I don't know anyone brave enough to try though . Personally I prefer Bubbles Devere.

I think all of Little Britain can be seen as offensive if you are the sensitive type. LOU AND aNDY(disabled/leaRning difficulties), Dafyd(gay jokes), the racist old lady who vomits all the time etc etc. The bf sketch is no different. They try to shock. Its just funny they get away with what they do!

It's one thing laughing at it as a joke on TV, it is quite another (v. tedious, not to say deeply insulting) when it is (repeatedly) rolled out on an exbf thread.

It makes me feel sick to think that some of my RL friends might think there is some comparison between me bf DS2 (nearly 2) and a grown-man feeding from his mother.

I always thought Little Britain picked on very easy, helpless targets.

Not particularly funny, no.

Have I Got News for You is really funny.

oNLY A LOON WOULD THINK that bf a 2 yr old is the same a bloke in the bitty sketch

I don't think there's anything funny about Little Britain.

WinkyWinkola · 22/10/2008 13:07

Yes, but bitty is used to make women who do extended breast feeding feel crap.

"I think all of Little Britain can be seen as offensive if you are the sensitive type"

No, it can be seen as offensive if you have any kind of common sense whatsoever.

I think its funny and am bf a 10 month old. Presumably i will have stopped by the time he's 30 though.

I just don't think its applicable to extended bf really.

It was funny the first time I saw it. It's not funny when the same joke is recycled round every episode, every series. It is boring now.

The sketch in itself doesn't bother me as such. I find the jokes a bit old now it's been on for a while so I don't find the entire programme all that funny. What I do find offensive is the use of the term 'bitty' to make an exbfing mum feel uncomfortable.

dragonisforlife,

I do have common sense. I also have a sense of humour and like a laugh. ITS TV for heavens sake!

Have i got no commonsnense for laughing at Lou and Andy too cos they obviously have learning difficulties?!

Surprised when i first saw it,i guess the show always tries to stretch taboo subjects, and immature pervy men apeing little kids is certainly that.
little kids and mums, great.
little britain doing a perve on this is deeply nasty.
If anyone mentioned bitty around me when i was bf i would feel hurt and they would be minus their bollocks.

I used to find most of LB funny. They've pushed the stereotypes too far now and I can't bring myself to watch it.

Agree with others that "bitty" is a term used to deride extended b/feeders, and often said on here with the motive of getting a rise out of them. The same way that "Vicky Pollard" is used as an insult. That's my problem with it.

extended b/feeders are very much a minority and they tend to get picked on a great deal and "bitty" is just another way of doing that.

I'm saying that if you find it offensive doesn't mean you're sensitive, it means you have common sense. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can see that it's designed to be offensive.
