aaaaaaaargh
Thank you
I know technically it's not essential, but what she was saying was "don't do it after 6 months"
OK, sorry, back to what you were doing

scorpio1 Wed 15-Oct-08 19:05:58

oh yes, the 6 months or more and you're a weirdo comments. Just starting for me....

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 19:06:58

You weirdo - 6 months
But your baby can sit up
uuurgh

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 19:07:11

maybe

scorpio1 Wed 15-Oct-08 19:07:48

but your baby eats real food now

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 19:09:40

well your baby turns his/her head in response to sound and may be starting to clap. Sure evidence that formula is better.
To clarify, this was regarding expressing at work (in a general sense, not about me, I don't).

scorpio1 Wed 15-Oct-08 19:10:54

it's all about our needs anyway, surely they know that??

aurorec Wed 15-Oct-08 19:12:32

Sorry who was saying that?

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 19:14:43

Sorry auro I don't really want to go into the detail as I probably shouldn't be saying any of this. Which I know makes it a stupid thread for other people to read - it really was just a rant. I thought about name changing, but with all the trolling lately decided against it. It was someone who should know better, in a general conversation about the practicalities of expressing at work.

MoonlightMcKenzie Wed 15-Oct-08 19:17:21

Expressing is all about the mum. wink

tiktok Wed 15-Oct-08 19:21:06

I wonder which formulas in particular she meant?

littlewhitebull Wed 15-Oct-08 19:22:13

Or my favourite "is mummy not giving you big boy food/milk now?" GRR!

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 19:22:55

I should have maybe asked for her recommendations

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 19:23:38

I think the rant was needed because it was all said in a long-suffering eye-rolling oh these awkward mothers way which just got my hackles up.

verylittlecarrot Wed 15-Oct-08 19:41:50

Here's a formula that many people swear by

(I+D) x C = B

(ignorance of the facts + denial of the truth) x cultural resistance to breastfeeding = Bloody annoying statements made to breastfeeding mothers

madmouse Wed 15-Oct-08 20:19:32

starting to feel happy that my 8.2 month old ds is still only 15lb hmm so nice and small, passes for younger

weird

chilledmama Wed 15-Oct-08 20:24:59

I love your formula VLC. I'm going to keep that for future refernce!grin
If you choose to BF past 12 months get ready for that back lash!!!!!

onepieceoflollipop Wed 15-Oct-08 20:29:50

SMB - this may just be a random comment () but I am still feeding at 14 months and tbh can't see me stopping for ages...

I don't mention it much, not because it is a "secret" but because I am so not interested in people's opinions (unless they are like-minded) I have a lovely colleague (who has a smaller baby than mine) who talks so matter of factedly about b/feeding and I love it. It kind of "normalises" it a bit more iykwim.

There are lots of great reasons to keep going, for a start my lo loves it. Also I kind of think that it still strengthens her immune system, so from a purely selfish level when she gets a cold/bug etc the b/milk helps her fight it off.

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 20:31:45

Good for you!
And I could hardly complain about the odd random comment on this thread

onepieceoflollipop Wed 15-Oct-08 20:42:53

Also (and sorry if this sounds awful) nothing shuts her up settles her better in the night than 5 minutes of boob. grin

nigglewiggle Wed 15-Oct-08 21:03:00

Exc BF 5 month old, 17lb - what must people think!

onepieceoflollipop Wed 15-Oct-08 21:32:16

niggle well I think that is

I am not "most people" though. Some of "most people" will no doubt be wittering on about baby rice to you.

SharpMolarBear Wed 15-Oct-08 21:40:01

Well my pretty much exclusively bf (and I'm not proud of that) DS - 18m - is finally asleep and so will I be soon
