Breastfeeding - can I occasionally wear underwired bra?

Is it ok to occasionally wear underwire when feeding? I've got a wedding to go to in a couple of weeks and it would be nice to maximise my unaccustomed cleavage! The odd day can't do any damage, can it???

I have been wearing an underwired bra for a few weeks now. It's not really a problem for me though as I only have very small norks!! Do you think you could get a padded, but non underwired bra instead? I had one from sloggi that had good progresive padding but with quite a thick band?? IYSWIM?

tinierclanger you can wear one all the time as long as it is well fitting. If it is too tight and cuts in to the breast at all then it can cause problems. I would only wear underwired during the day though.

Unless you are 100% sure of your size, go to somewhere reputable for a fitting (Bravissimo, or poss John Lewis)

Personally I would avoid M&S and Mothercare.

Super - thank you. Bravissimo will be too big for me I think - but will go to John Lewis or just go and try lots on.

I have been bfing for 14.5 months and have worn an underwired for 10 of those and have had no problems at all.

I get fitted at John Lewis, but beware, they are not allowed to give underwired bras to bfing mothers!

The Anita underwired bra is also available from www.bras4mums.co.uk who give great fitting advice over the phone & will go all out to make sure you get something you are happy with(almost as good as a Bravissimo fitting).
