does anyone elses LO get distracted whilst BFing? my DD (12wks) keep smiling and laughing at me, staring at things. will she grow out of it? or now that she's more alert she'll always feed this way?

IME she will always be that way unless particularly hungry or particularly tired. My DS2 was particularly like that. I might be kidding myself but he is a bright boy so I do wonder if he just found feeding a bit dull when all you have to stare at is a bit of boob.

Does she feed for a bit and then get distracted or does she never just get on with it?

feeds for a while, then gets distracted and smiley, i'm not worried, its actually quite funny. i'm sure shes getting enough cos shes stacking on the weight.

I reckon she has probably had enough and is just enjoying the closeness. A bit like being starving and wolfing down your main course but having a bit of a chat whilst eating your desert.

My two got so bad that I knew it was time to stop bf. They just didn't settle down to it at all - no main course, just straight on to desert. However, they were both well over a year by then so no problem.

Sounds lovely though - so long as she isn't doing it at night!!!

No, night feeds are completely different, she's very focused and spends longer feeding, normally half asleep!
