Thrush/mastitis/reynauds, what have I got?

DD (13 months) has got thrush. I have too - agony. After reading up all the wonderful advice on here I am on fluc (400 then 200) from the GP (thank you MN), grapefruit seed extract drops diluted in water and vinegar washing after a feed.

DDhas also got a REALLY sore, swollen- lip (looks like she's been boxing). She banged it on Mon and has a big white patch on it like a graze. It means she can't suck or eat properly so is screaming every time she tries to latch on and isn't feeding well at all. We took her back to the dr who wasn't really concerned by it and said rub nurofen on it (she's already got daktarin).

Yesterday part of my left breast felt very solid even after feeding. I can't feel a small blockage at all it just feels full still. I also noticed my nipple was very white after feeding.

I only feed her 2/3times a day but am keen to continue as long as possible. Can anybody help us get it back to the lovely experience it was.

The part of your breast feeling solid could well be a blocked duct if your dd is not emptying it in the way your boob relies on.

How helpful that your dr is not really concerned does he not realise that the sore lip means she needs to eat so to speak with her hands tied behind her back?

Is your hv any help? I for one am not sure what the white patch is sounds a bit too big for thrush. Have you tried cold compresses or arnica

I'm trying warm compresses on my boob. The nipple was feeling very cold and looked blanched white.

Haven't tried the HV and doubt if I can until Monday.

She did manage to feed a bit this evening with a lot of faff.

Any advice on how to unblock a duct?

Massage the solid area before you feed from that breast and during the feed. Firm strokes towards the nipple as that it where you want it to go.

Have no experience with the white nipple thingy. I would say that anything very hot or very cold would make it worse though.

Thanks madmouse. Tried massaging in the bath last night and I think some of the blockage seemed to come out.

DD still not right ad not feeding properly so we'll try the duty dr later and see if he'll look at both of us.
