Infant feeding

Did you teach your toddler a word to ask for a breastfeed, or did they make up their own word?

Despite all of us consistently calling a feed 'boo', ds2 has named it 'ma'.

We only called feeding 'boo' because that was what dd had named it when she was a baby (it was her first word!). But her name made more sense, as dh had kept refering to me 'boobing' her.

Does your toddler use your word or his/her own?

Ds called it "mum mum" he stopped at 22 mths, and I miss it.

He is my last.

I stopped feeding ds2 when he was 20mo, he just used to hit my breasts. But then he didn't speak till after 2y, so couldn't have had a word for it.

no, b/fed dd till she was nearly 2. She was definitely talking then, and don't remember her having a word for it!

ha ha how funny.
I used to refer to it as having a feed, but dd1 called it "more" as in "you can have one more minute and then you must go to sleep.

so then I called it "more" but dd2 called it (still calls it) "bo" (unsure of spelling, may be "beau" for all I know) ormore recently bo-bo

Mine doesn't really speak yet, at 17 mo. She just climbs up on my lap, nods violently and lifts my top up. It was quite amusing to watch her trying to lift up my swimming costume from the bottom

My DS, 22 months, started to call it "boat" a few weeks ago. It is the same word he uses for "broken" and of course, boats.

Ds2 calls it 'muck' .

This is so sweet and funny! I thought there would be lots of 'num-nums', but clearly our toddlers are originals.

(Catweazle - that is why I don't wear my tankini these days!)

I love this thread. DS isn't talking yet (we're at the 'pulling the neckline of my top down and trying to fit his head in it' stage just now) but I am looking forward to this

dd 2.5 (just finished feeding I think - only had a couple in the last month or so.) She just used to say "I need milk" and lay on my lap

DS calls it "mops". I've encouraged it because I think it's better than him shouting out "boobies" in public!

DS, 25m, calls it "ugguh".

It means "other side?", which is what I offer him half way through.
