How do you position a V shaped pillow for comfortable BF, and did you BF using a sling? If so, which one?

I had BF pillow around my middle with opening to my back and baby lying in front of me, or rugby hold to the side. I find though when baby can hold and move own head, much easier just to hold him/her without faffing with any pillow (this is admittedly my 3rd ).

Bfing in sling, IMO, only practical in ringsling ie Huggababy or Freedom sling etc, there are loads of them out there. Personally, I do not like doing it (quite like the sitting down having a cuddle thing, ideally with eyes closed - that's MY eyes ) but needs must when doing bed time on my own with 2 older DSs...

Thanks M. This is my third too - I have never bothered with a pillow before, but always needed two hands to BF - one to support baby's head and one to stop my large nork from suffocating the baby! I thought i might get a cheapy from Argos (about £6) and see if I could have a free hand this time!

i would put the pillow it was round my waist and would hold DS in a rugby ball hold so his head was supported by the cushion IYSWIM (2 v shaped things pointing backwards)

this was nice and comfy

or - i would put the cushion so one half of the V was behind me and the other half in front use the front half to support my arm when holding DS to feed

or - would lean back against it so my back was supported and use the arm of the sofa or extra cushions to lean my arm on

FWIW I never got the hang of the BF pillow at all and was most comfy using a cushion from the sofa (which was handy as I was usually sitting on the sofa eating cake and watching star trek!).

Have a good go with the one you've bought but also try normal pillows and cushions and things in combo until you find what works best for you both. Don't feel that it has to work for you just because it is specifically for that IYSWIM.

Never used a sling so can't help there!

I used to feed in a wrap sling, I'm a 34H so I'm not that small!

Have fed DD in all sorts of slings all over the place - personal fav is the ringsling as I can lay her down and latch her on, pull the material up and no one realises that I'm feeding her in the train/bus/restaurant/library/bank/tate modern......... etc.
Except when she's wriggly and pulls it back down again and the whole of south london gets a good look.

Coorie or Huggababy worked for me, pouch sling when he was newborn, ring sling when he got bigger and I needed to be able to adjust it more.
