Remember reading a thread where you said your HV was hounding you for ds dropping off his centile. Got ds weighed today and he has dropped off 91st to above 75th - Hv says got to keep eye on him. I only went to get him weighed as he was ill last week and I wanted to check he hadn't lost weight. Told her this and it didn't seem to register! Need reassurance to keep exc bf to six months (he is 23 weeks, so nearly there). Please help!

Gah! Stupid HV!!! Don't fret at all, hun. And do not feel pressured into giving him food early or introducing formula top-ups.

There was an article recently about breastfed babies not putting on the weight as fast and it actually being healthier. I quoted it to my stupid HV and she shut right up

I may have it somewhere (the whole article though, not the link) - think it was in The Observer. Will see if I can find it and post it.

Well done on 23 weeks exclusive breastfeeding! And remember that if they kept piling on the weight at the rate they do in the early weeks and months, your arms would drop off xxx

Thanks, HM. Can't believe I feel intimidated by her, being a second timer and all! He's huge though - 70 cms tall and covered in podge. Beautiful!

Tell her that WHO are currently revising the charts after an international taskforce on obesity found they were unrealistically high.

You keep going, ignore her.

He sounds wonderful - have you got a recent pic to send me? Think I may have a fairly recent one of DS to trade

, Lockets.
He's been the best little man over the last week. Such a comfort to me and my mum.

The most recent pic I have is the Christmas one I think I sent you? Will try to send one soon though - he's changed SO much (again!).

dinny, if you go onto kellymom.com, they have data showing weight gain for an average BF baby on the old formula growth charts. It quite clearly shows that BF babies are beefers up until 6 months then they tail off onto the 50th centile.

My wee chubber is catching up on yours - he's 68cm now
