How do I get my twins of 15 months off formula?

My twins, boy and girl, have Aptamil formula - Extra Hungry - at the last feed of the day - 6:45pm. The other milk feed at 7 am they have cows milk.

I am so worried to give them just cows milk at that time of the day, as I think if I do they will wake in the night!

My health visitor told me to just give them cows milk, but said it wouldn't guarantee them not waking, as the formula stays in their tummies for longer.

Has anyone else had this problem, or any advice on what I should do?

I was thinking of gradually mixing the bottle with both until it was eventually cows milk. Would that work?

I just swapped dd's milk one day, started at first with cows milk morning and after about a week and knew she was happy with taste just gave cows milk at night which she quite happily drinks as it is same as her breakfast milk. No probs and she slept through (in fact, do a lrger measure of milk at first in case your dcs have a good glug so you know they've drunk their fill!) What they eat during day wuill help fill themfor night, so you could always cheat with a little snack late aft / early eve before / after tea to heklp keep their tummiesfull (dd raids the raisins a lot!)

Have they got a good sleep pattern at night? Dd has her night milk at about quat to seven in eve before she goes to bed, and she has always had a set bedtime routine and so far touch wood slept for about 11 hours or so, so it will poss all contribute to your dcs sleeping through?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but why do you want to? I understand you will long term but if they're happy and you're worried it'll affect their sleep...

I started the same, swapped the morning milk which they happily did no problems. They are in a good routine, and go to bed the same time and sleep through til 7am when I get them up. They drink 7 - 9 oz of the formula.

The reason I ask is we are emigrating to Australia in a few weeks and I know I won't get their formula out there, so am trying to plan ahead!

Oh I see
Do you not think the emigration wil be such a big deal anyway it will throw their routine completely, and you'll need to start a new one? Almost look on it as a good time to drop it?

Good luck by the way - I moved round the corner with one baby at 6mo - I do not envy you

Think it will def throw the routine out the window!

Would rather get rid of the formula before though. Just not sure if now's the right time, or is it!

Hmm, why nottry it anywy as a test run>
? If it woks, problem solved, if it doesn't, you need to get a big case of formula to tide you over for a few weeks!

DS (14mths) still wakes for a 9.30pm bottle. He was on aptamil in the UK, but we've just moved to Canada. We just tried different formulas until we found one that suited. We found a good one on the second attempt, the first he woke up starving in the night.

So if you want to keep them on the formula, go ahead and get an equivalent in Aussie. You could probably take a can out with you in your luggage also to get you over the initial move. I also put a can (wish I'd put more), in our shipment.

Yep think I need to be brave and give it a test run, at least I can then go back to it if they then wake in the night!

Does anyone know if you can mix milk with formula?

If it doesnt work then will def get lots and put with our shipment.

Thankyou!
