I know there will be Oxford MNers I haven't mentioned, forgive me!
There is possibly going to be a breastfeeding picnic arranged for the Oxford area on July 21st.
Can you make it??

Not sure yet harpsi, hoping to get it on the university parks.
ALso DP is going to have a word with the editor of the Oxford Mail, they are planning on doing a pregnancy special soon anyway so this is right up their street at the moment.

sorry to sort of hijack - i am a soon-to-be Oxford BF mum (currently in Durham) and wondered if anyone had any advice on moving to Oxford? I have a DD 2.8 and a DS 6 months and need to find childcare/somewhere to live - any suggestions/advice?
Can't make the BF picnic but would love to come if there is one next year (prob moving end of the year)

Thank you!

I did mention to Yorky to see if she could get permission.

BT who exactly did you contact for yours and what did you say?

Hi VS, I haven't fallen off the planet - will start by calling Police tomorrow and see if there is anywhere they'd like us to go, anywhere in particular we want to be in the uni parks? Spot the newbie to the area!

VS - well I needed to find out who owned Palace Green, so in the first instance I contacted the Police, who gave me the email for a guy in the H&S office at Durham Council. He then gave me the name of the Head of Security at Durham University since Palace Green is Uni property, so technically not a public space! However, Indith, StealthPolarBear and I had our own picnic their a while back.

I just explained that a number of mums and smalls were going to have a picnic and wanted to ask them if it was ok to hold it there, told them what it was about and assured them that we would be respectful of the area and clear up after ourselves. I explained a bit of what we were about, and linked to MG's blog. Hopefully going to get a reply back today from Security.

So far this morning I have had a lovely chat with TVPolice who say thank you for letting them know and hope it all goes well. I've said we don't want to disrupt traffic but just raise awareness, hopefully about 2 dozen of us. He was concerned about people coming to letch! He'll let the PCSOs on the day know to expect us but can't see a problem. Now if only the Parks would actually pick up their phone as I've left them the most incoherent garbled message!

Yeah, I emailed the curator?, someone from the university parks anyway and have had no reply as yet.
One of the other women (Rachel) that met up with us last time is something to do with the Uni but I don't know if she has any pull over the parks.

Hi I'm moving to Oxford soon and am not breast feeding any more but would love to come along with my DD, meet people and support the event - would that be possible?

Report
VictorianSqualor · 09/07/2008 12:03

Yes! The more the merrier. You don't have to breastfeed to support it.
