Infant feeding

I have a great book on extended breastfeeding which I would like to lend out to MNers

because I hope other people would find it as useful as I did

'Mothering Your Nursing Toddler' - it's a La Leche League book and is very positive, inspiring and reassuring about all the benefits and difficulties of breastfeeding an older child

Please CAT me if you would like to borrow it next.

Do you really like it that much Franny? I've borrowed a copy from my local LLL and am struggling to get through it, as I find it old fashioned, patronising and insulting of anyone who doesn't want to continue feeding indefinitely.

oh yes I did like it, very much
but then I did want to continue breastfeeding indefinitely
I felt very alone and unsupported in RL for my parenting choices when ds was a young toddler
this book was wonderful for me

does it have a way to stop them chewing your nips?

I can't remember, I have been lending it out for years and it's not been in my possession for long enough to reread

I have a copy of this book and I find it very helpful, it even has a bit on breastfeeding whilst pregnant and tandem nursing.

PHD Biting on pages 111 to 115. Brief summary of those pages. A young baby (under 1 year old) more likely to bit due to teething. Treat the teething, watch child closely whilst nursing, break latch and stop bursing session if child bites.

An older baby/toddler can bite out of boredom, hunger, anger. Try and establish what is the matter by talking to child and do something appropriate.

Would I get anything out of it Franny?

I would, please, we've sort of fallen into extended feeding and it would be nic to know a bit more about it, iyswim.

I can't CAT but can give you an email address?

I reckon you could write a better one tbh wonky

I dunno, I found it very helpful as I say when struggling with both societal disapproval / overwhelming neediness of bfing toddler

if you are not suffering from either of those it would probably be teaching you to suck eggs

that phrase doesn't work somehow on a bfing thread does it

Olihan ok
I always think MN need the funds so encourage people to pay for CAT when they are getting something free from MN
but will leave it to your conscience

Are you still b/feeding F&Z? How old is your ds?
Isn't baby due soon as well?

Fair comment Franny, conscience duly pricked, will sort out CAT .

I woud love to read it though as the two issues you mention are my two major concerns at the moment.

hello moondog, I was just thinking earlier today "where is moondog, she is missed?"

no ds self weaned shortly before he was 4. I was quite about it really, end of an era and all that, but life does move on

next one due on Friday

Olihan that was a bit cheeky of me, I don't know your financial situation - am happy to get book off to you anyway. Another MNer has it atm so if you let me have your details I will get her to post direct to you
