weight loss and breastfeeding

So whilst pregant and eating for england I was reassured by all that the weight would drop off once I started breastfeeding despite havig to eat more to starve off the hunger. Having heard the stories of miraculous weight loss from fellow neo-natalers I wonder am I the only one who has managed to gain weight since birth because of this??

Any gems of advice on how to stave the hunger off or tips on how to loose it without yet enjoying the independence of time to go to the gym??

You have to do the calories in/out thing - so snack on veggies and fruit and do portion control of the other bits of your meal and bulk out on veggies, and get walking. I did at least an hour a day out with the pram when on mat leave (to be fair I was going stir crazy being in the house).

I've heard that always having a big glass of water when you think you are hungry can work as you might be thirsty instead.

It took me till DD was nine months and then the weight, yes, did literally fall off. Not sure what the correlation was, possibly that I stopped feeling horrible and eating biscuits all the time .

I was massively thirsty as well and didn't realise. But to give you an indication, I gained four stone during pregnancy and lost five and a half stone by her first birthday.

...and then of course I got sodding pregnant again

I'm still nursing her and plan to tandem feed DS when he arrives so I'm hoping that this will be enough of a calorific double whammy to yet again shift the weight.

I lost loads of weight in the first 5 weeks after having DS
but now (DS 18 weeks) I'm sure I'm bigger again!

Trying to be 'good' now but it's hard. I feel a physical compulsion for chocolate!

Also I think I eat because I'm at home all day, and because I have stopped smoking. I walk miles, but then feel even more hungry so that's not working yet either!
