Conflicting information.

Hi,

I fully intend BF and have read loads and loads about nipple confusion and introducing expressed feeds and a dummy.

I am a bit confused as in a magazine I was given it has been recommended that you give baby a dummy when going to sleep as a prevention to SIDS but this goes against everything I have looked into recently and read up on.

Can anyone shed any light for me?

The most recent cot death prevention advice is to give a dummy from the ages of 1 month to 6 months I think. I will try and find a link.

the ABM has a good evidence based document on this topic.

it will also be helpful to read this which the FSID only recently has published on their site but has been known for years.

if you look at hunker's blog there is a bit of a discussion on this topic. The discussion pre-dates the recent release from the FSID but i think it is still worth looking at.
