Infant feeding

Is it going to be impossible to get my baby onto the odd bottle?

My LO is just over 5mths old (3mths corrected as she was 9 weeks prem) and is exclusively breastfed.

Been thining about giving her the odd bottle of expressed milk - have a freezer full of the stuff back from when I was expressing up until March (as she was unable to feed due to her prematurity).

DH tried her with a bottle of expressed milk for the first time tonight and she screamed the house down.

A BF counsellor has told me that it will be impossible because she has been exclusively breastfed for so long.

Anyone successfully managed to bottle feed after so long exlusively breastfeeding? if so how!?

BF counsellor talking rubbish (which is a surprise) you might need to find the right bottle though.
Can she sit up yet? If so then a doidy cup or sippy cup might be okay and you could go straight onto that, otherwise try different flow teats for starters. Both DD's were EBF and would only have slow flow teats, even when DD1 was 12 months old.
DD2 now will only take milk from a tommee tippee closer to nature bottle, and it has to be quite a bit warmer than body temperature.
Lot of milk wasted finding that out but DD1 drank the 'leftovers!

I am trying very hard to get my 5mth dd to take a bottle at the mo - so far no luck, but plenty of people have posted to say it can be done! Will try and link to some threads where I got good advice...

thanks!

Will gove it a couple more goes but tbh if it's going to be 'torture' think I will give up rather than stress her - I'm on mat leavefor at least 12 mths and plan to carry on til at least 12mths anyway. was just an idea so daddy csan give the odd bottle

If you don't need to do it in any rush, maybe you could just wait and see how she gets on with a cup? dd is getting used to her doidy cup now but throws whatever is in it all around the place, so it's ok with water just to get used to it but hopeless as a substitute for a feed.
