Infant feeding

Stupid question about co-sleep and BF

As I lay in bed at 5 am yesterday morning feeding LO I just wondered..
We don't co-sleep, but I feed him lying down in the night because I'm sleepy. If I don't wear a bra that's tight with two pads in it I would drown DS as he fed with the other boob. If you cosleep I imagine you must have to be bra-less for them to help themselves...don't you wake up in a puddle with wet baby? Just to see, I put a cup under top boob this morning (should add we dont really do proper feeds from 10 pm to 5 am) and just the pressure alone leaked out nearly two ounces...

muslin under you (or towel if you leak a lot). I found the leaking settled down after a while anyway

I don't leak much this time (and can't express much (very at idea of getting 2oz without even trying)) so it's not a problem for me. IME, though, they don't really "help themselves" at this age you need to wake up to an extent and latch them on so you could probably wear bra and pads (although then you'd drift off to sleep again without replacing them, I suppose, so there would be leakage). By the time they can easily help themselves the leaking tends to have settled down.

In general, though -- sleep on a towel. I did that in the early days last time anyway (before we were cosleeping) because I hate sleeping in a bra.

I guess I'm lucky because the only time I leak after the first few weeks is first thing in the morning while DS feeds, so it works fine for me. I've often wondered how leakers manage to co-sleep and feed.

Our 4 month growth spurt makes me very very grateful I can sleep and feed though!

By the way, I do have to wake up to latch on but now I can do it hardly waking up, and sometimes in the dark. DS sleeps in the crook f my arm with my boob in front of him and can latch himself on if he just has to move his head.
