Do newborns get "drunk" on Breast Milk? Such lovely smiles and expressions!

Dp tells me its wind, but DD (4 wks) has always had this "repertoire" of facial expressions with smiles, wide eyes, pursed lips and a "drunk" expression with eyes rolling in her head. Its lovely to watch - does every baby do this and for how long?

i'm sure my DD was smiling away at 2 weeks.
others said wind.
She looked drunk on my milk, funny faces too as you say, so cute.
she doesn't do it as much anymore, shes's 4 months now.
Not sure when it stopped.

I love the morning smiles when she's finished sleeping.
It's like she's not seen you for ages.
I'm savouring these memories.

No wonder people say it goes fast! Her first month has flown.
I know what you mean, I try to savour every minute Imawurzel.

My ds used to look like baby Father Jack, with hair standing on end, milk dribbles all over cheeks and chin, and a lovely drunk expression.

DS(3wks) has a gorgeous smile that does eem to be in reaction to external influences but I remember with both DD and DS1 the smile changed after they started to smile properly, DD was about 4 weeks, DS about 6, I think.

Ah, my LO definitely used to get 'milk drunk'. She'd look so blissed out and dozy. It looked like a good state to be in

I know what you mean. I managed to get a picture of DS when he was one day old with that milky bliss face. Love looking at it, nearly four years later. DD never did it.

How about what I call the "Mmmmm....donuts...." face? As infants, both my dc's would have this a few seconds into bf, presumably when the let down happened (I can't feel it). The eyes roll back, eyelids half close in ecstasy, body relaxes, just like Homer Simpson spotting donuts. And yes, both would look very milk drunk afterwards. My dd (20months) still staggers away drunkenly with a huge grin on her face if she has a bf during the day.

Definitely. My LO is formula fed and I get it as well!

My twin boys are bottle fed (EBM and formula) and get that look too.

It soooo sweet.
