Hi all, looking for some advice and can't seem to get many answers. I am preggers with my first and had a breast reduction about 6 years ago. Although not everything was cut (sorry tmi) there is a chance I wil simply not be able to breast feed as no milk ducts connected. Does anyone know at what stage I will find out. Is it literally after the birth???

Thanks in advance! x

I don't think you'd be able to know until a few days after the birth; when, with plenty of putting to the breast etc, your milk would be expected to come in.

Calling one of the bf helplines now would be good as they might be able to put you in touch with someone with personal experience.

Thanks cmotdibbler - didn't even think of phoning the helplines! I will blame the pregnancy for making my brain muddled.

There's a Breastfeeding After reduction website, too, which you can google...sorry, in a rush or would find it myself. Lots of info and forums, as far as I remember.
