Infant feeding

after breast feeding- what will they look like?

an unexpected benefit of pregnancy for me was that my breasts increased in size from a 36A to 36DD! In fact I had jumped a cup size before I had even done a pregnancy test. I have been breastfeeding so they have stayed that size, but now dd is a year I am starting to think about giving up in the next few months. I am a bit worried about what size they will end up though and wondered whether anyone else has experience of such a change in size. Obviously I know I can't breast feed for ever so they stay the way they are now! I realise now that I quite liked my small breasts but wondering whether they will look the way they did before or a bit stretched. I already have awful stretch marks...

I think most people find that straight after finishing bfing that they may feel and look a little empty and flat

however this doesn't last forever IME you have lost some fat stores from there but they will be replaced in time - exercise to firm up muscles and possibly even putting on a little weight to replace fat can help this happen faster

i went from a 32a to a 34c so not quite the dramatic change as you...and now, alas, back to a 34b (but slightly heavier than i was before 2 pregnancies)...they look almost the same but they are a hell of a lot more squishy IYKWIM

but they say bf doesn't have anything to do with it, it's the pregnancy bit that makes them saggy!

thanks- glad to hear it hopefully won't last forever. Not sure I want to put weight on, haven't really lost all I gained in pregnancy. Hoping I am one of those women who loses weight after they stop bfing- certainly didn't lose lots from feeding as I had hoped!

mine have got bigger and fuller every time (am feeding ds2 now my 3rd and LAST child)
I am large of cup now
Started off at 30dd in 93 went up to 34F with preg and feeding ds1 born 1994
Went back to 32EE
with dd went up to 34GG back to 34F
With ds2 have gone to norkilicious 32HH and here I remain ds2 is 10 mths and feeding well.
I am going for a reduction since best most optimistic predictions cast me at 32GG

well I think they will fill out in time anyway

I just noticed personally when I put on half a stone or so it made quite a difference

yes certainly can't blame the breastfeeding (not that it would have stopped me) has just meant they stayed this size for longer!

Mine only went from B to C cup (in the first three months of pregnancy). When I stopped bf, they felt empty & soft for a while, but since then have gone back to their pre-pregnancy size & shape. They did not drop or sag, but that might be because the change was only one size to begin with.

I started of as a 34b and went to (what i thought) was an impressive 34d. they went back to normal after a few months. The stretch marks will fade so dont worry too much.

In my (albeit limited) experience, I think it depends what boobs you have to begin with. Mine have never been the ones you could do the pencil test with (was told as a teenager that you didn't need a bra unless you could stick a pencil under and it would stay) and they have faired well 2 kids later, both bf for over a year each. They did look a bit sad straight away afterwards as they'd had all the fat sucked off them but over the years (2-3 I suppose) the fat has grown back on them and they look better than they did before. Friends that had bigger norks have faired less well though.

Wow, Liz. 38K... that's impressive.

I was in Bravissimo once and a woman asked if they had any 40LLs in stock. Carrying boobs around that size all day has got to hurt.

Re: what my boobs looked after breastfeed... in a word- FLAT. It's a strange thing, but they just lost all their density.

I agree with those who noticed a sad deflation immediately afterwards. But 6 months or so down the line things perked up, and now they look ok for an old 'un!

I noticed after DD2 they were like snooker balls in socks too but they have perked up again now I am pregnant.

I went from 34D to 34G was about a
34B/C after DD2 but I have lost 1 1/2 stone on pre DC weight so that would affect them more. Oh I was still BFing DD1 when I got pregnant with DD2 so no real change there.

Don't know how they will end up but theres always good underwiring.

pitta breads

I dread to think how they will be after DC4 is finished with them.

I intend to spend the rest of my life expressing to maintain fullness.

After b/f for nigh on six years, my tits were so small the M&S lady could barely find them to measure (came out at 32A). Am happy to report that they grew back to usual 32C within 18 months or so. I reckon it's because the fat stores are all used up when you finish b/fing, and takes time for it to build up again.
