2 week old with constipation???

My 2 week old son has constipation.
He wont drink cooled boiled water or fennel tea which have been suggested by the widwife and health visitor.
But now it seems to be getting worse as he screams while pooing!

Does anyone know of how i can ease this for him???

Is he breast or formula fed, didsnbump?

At 2 weeks, a breastfed baby who doesn't poo may need checking out....it's very unusual.

A formula fed baby as young as this with constipation may need a doctor's check, too.

If the poo is soft, then it is more likely to be an anal fissure, rather than constipation.

Anal fissure is a tiny little scratch of the anus, often caused by a hard poo passing which splits the skin.

Sounds like your GP should take a look.

Hi there,

This happened to my LO at 5 weeks when I moved from BF to mixed to full FF. Turned out to be the brand of formula that didn't suit. Was using SMA which HV said does do this to some babies - something to do with it being quite rich. She suggested Farleys as it is quite light, but this gave my LO wind as its v bubbly, so went to Aptamil and she poos like a good un now.
