Donor milk how is it screened?

I know mums who donate blood and they have a health screen before they begin but is the milk donated then screened or treated before it's given to babies. It has occurred to me then if not there is still a possibility of hiv et al being passed on as the donating mother might not show infection in her initial tests or might contract a disease whilst donating further down the line.

the milk is pasteurised or sterilised or something like that - sorry can't quite remember!

Try the UK Milk Bank website, they have answers to all sorts of questions about donating milk. I think that the mother is screened before she donates, and the milk is separately tested as well as being pasteurised.
