Gassy baby?

My little one (7 weeks) is super fractious today, he’s been straining lots (which isn’t unknown) and flailing arms and legs when feeding, then finally pooing. I thought he would feel more comfortable after, but he continued to be fractious, flail his arms and legs when feeding and fussing at the boob and making noises that suggest he’s not comfy, and crying when he otherwise wouldn’t (he doesn’t often cry).
He’s had three poos today, the second was more a wet (very noisy) fart. I thought if it was gas/wind that was causing him this discomfort that he’d feel better after each poo/fart... however he doesn’t seem any better ☹️

Does this just sound like a gassy baby to you?

I’ve tried massage and Indian bouncing but he is too fractious, we’ve got gripe water on order (due to arrive tomorrow) so will see how that works. However, any help for this evening would be great please... 😬☹️

Does he bring up wind after feeds?

He does occasionally- not all the time though, and I'm pretty good (getting better) at taking him off the boob to wind him before he continues feeding

Update:

He's still clearly uncomfortable though slept fairly well, occasionally waking and continuing to flail his arms and legs.

He’s not feeding massively well (which is unusual for him) as he’s fussing at the boob so much, but then mouthing and eating his hands when he’s not feeding.

How long do gassy 'episodes' tend to last? What else can I do to help him?

My baby was like this and very gassy, she was most gassy when feeding and thrashed around too. I didn't find much to help other than massage and doing bicycle legs after each feed and before every nap. However after 12 weeks when their digestive systems are more developed I noticed a real difference and this eventually disappeared.

Thank you all so much - fingers crossed he's settled a bit, whether that's time, his development, my assistance (bicycling legs etc) or the Infacol - or all of the above :) either way, he's feeling better and that's all that matters :)
