Has anyone actually been prescribed a dairy free formula that agreed with their LO? Just looking for some hope as everything I read on here suggests they rarely get on with these :( if not, when did your LO grow out of it?

I've not had to try it but don't forget the ones that post on here are usually the ones that are struggling. If you've tried it and it worked you are unlikely to start a tinge of posts on MN Smile

Hopefully someone will be along soon who can help Thanks

I was prescribed sma althera as a top up to breast feeding when lo was 4 months. He had it as his main drink from 6 months when I stopped breastfeeding and hes just turned 1 and still has a bottle overnight and 1 in the morning. The pp makes a good point the people coming on here are struggling and looking for advice so may seem disproportionately high

My son was prescribed aptimil pepti.

It worked in that he kept it down enough to put on weight, but he would still puke some of it up. He was never sick from breastfeeding (combi fed)

We did the milk ladder at 1 but he couldn't tolerate dairy. He's almost 4 now and we stopped trying to introduce it. We tried again when he was two and caused horrible pops for him.

My twins tried SMA Althera first; didn't agree with them as this isn't fully dairy-free, just has more broken down proteins.
Then tried Neocate which is supposed to be the best, however they still weren't 'right' on it, so then trialled SMA Alfamino which is fully dairy-free. Seems to have done the trick and my twins seem to like it!
We have a dietician and will be starting the milk ladder when they turn 1 Smile
