(8 Posts)I EBF DS for 9 days, I was exhausted and I honestly couldn't cope with the lack of sleep/I did not wash for 3 days as he would scream every time he come off my breasts, he was constant cluster feeding. I enjoyed every moment and would of carried on if not the lack of sleep. Now I feel guilty and wish I could of carried on .
After making the decision to not EBF, I give him HIPP milk and he is sick maybe once a day after a feed. I give him my breastmilk via bottle but its slowly decreasing due to me not pumping a lot. Does anyone have any recommendations for a milk or any advice. I feel helpless and extremely guilty
Could you mix feed and give some breastfeeds alongside formula in a bottle?
We did mixed breastfeeding and HIPP in a bottle feeding so DH could share the burden and it worked like a dream. Gentle reminder that you don't need to feel guilty, if you couldn't cope with how things were, you did the right thing
@dementedpixie it could be but my milk im not even getting an ounce out now
@letsmaketea DS keeps on being sick and I feel so frustrated that I can't give him more breastmilk. I wish I expressed from when I stopped feeding full time and it wouldn't of happened. I still feel guilty.
The baby will be more efficient at getting milk out than a pump. Maybe couldn't hurt to see if he would latch on, if you wanted to try it.
Whatever happens, all that matters is that he is getting fed. Be kind to yourself
@dementedpixie midwive said that also but I would get emotional feeding him and want to do it all the time
I never thought EBF would be so emotional!
If you’d like to put him on and see if he feeds from you then to build your supply power pump ( pump f or 10 mins) 8-12 times a day including the night - drinks loadsssss of water, drink fennel tea and eat porridge oats - all helps with milk production! A few days of pumping lots ( I know it’s intense !) and you should increase your supply and by keep putting baby to breast they will hopefully continue to feed well . Combi feeding should hopefully work well too Id that’s what you want/ breastfeeding is very emotional and a lot of guilt feelings about what is best - what is best for you and your baby is when baby is fed and mum is healthy and happy with her choices!! Good luck you’re doing great xx
Hi, my ds did not react well to hipp formula (the organic combiotic one). I’ve been struggling with breastfeeding from day 1 and ds had jaundice so gave him a bit of formula at the beginning (aptamil). Still topping him up with the odd formula so wanted to buy something nicer but he was farting all night, throwing up and it absolutely stunk!! So back to aptamil, my little one has never had any problems with it xx
