I know babies feed a lot, but is this some kind of growth spurt?

Baby is 15 weeks, breastfed on demand. Since birth he has roughly fed every 1-2 hrs daytime, and then waking 1-3 times overnight (9pm-7am).
From about 8weeks he has usually slept 9-3am, fed, then sleeps again until 7am, with occasional extra 5am feed.

But the last weeks has gone to pot. Firstly he hardly ate for 2 days daytime, just fussing and feeding 2 mi a at a time, then eating more Evening and overnight. And now the last 2-3 days he is literally eating every 1-2 hrs, 24/7.

Can he really be that hungry? He is taking a decent 15min+ feed each time.

Last night he fed
6pm
7.30pm
8.30pm
10.30pm
12.30am
2.30am
3.30am
5.30am
7am
8.30am

And seems hungry at each feed

It’s very tiring as I have barely enough time in between feeds to do anything basic

After the 7am feed this morning (10mins) Dh took baby downstairs so I could rest a bit, but by 8.30am he bought him back saying he had literally been chewing hand the whole hour downstairs

Is he maintaing his weight centile? And how many wet and dirty nappies on 24 hours? If he has not been weighed in the last month, it would be reasonable to ask for him to be weighed and also get a length and head circumference done.

Sounds pretty normal to me.

I think there is a growth spurt around this point

Yes he was weighed last week when he had vaccinations. Was 4kg born and 52cm, now 6.5kg and 64cm. So he’s growing fine.
He has plenty of wet nappies and usually poops once per day.

It’s just the last few days it’s super constant. He’s feeding again as I type.... supply seems ok as he drools milk if pulls off, and boobs still leaking on and off.

If it’s just a few days and a growth spurt I can continue, but if not I’m not sure.

Ps we were offering formula 1-2 times per week (2-3 oz at a time) so dh could give if I had appointment etc, but he has refused the bottle now the last 2-3 weeks.

He has about 7-8 nappies changed per day

Also does anyone know if it’s ok to try feeding baby formula from just an open cup or beaker at this age? (15 weeks)

It’s mainly if I have to go somewhere and baby is hungry ( again) so dh can top him up before I return for main feed.

It does sound like a growth spurt. You can try offering milk from a cup or a spoon if he can master it. Probably best to wait until the growth spurt is over so your supply catches up with his needs.
