I have been unable to breastfeed but am expressing instead and topping up with formula. I have an old friend coming to stay on Saturday night and would like to have an acoholic beverage or two or three or... How long after drinking alcohol is it safe to express milk again? Thanks.

You'll be fine to express in the morning... even last thing at night if you don't still feel the effects of the alcohol. If you're exclusively expressing - well done! It's bloody hard work. I did it for a year so please ask any questions if you need!

It's safe stragiht away. If you are particularly worried, label it as "alcholic", freeze it and use it when baby is older, when you want to be sure that he/she will sleep!

Actually, I think if you do the search as recommended, tiktok will say that very little alcohol gets into breastmilk unless you have really been hitting the bottle!

The best info I have found about this subject is at KellyMom. In particular, the section Breastfeeding and alcohol.
