Start using Mumsnet PremiumHigh palate speech
(3 Posts)Hi, my baby is 10 weeks, bf and overal tends to feed well. I have been told he has a high palate due to the sucking. He was tongue tied but that was corrected. Does anyone know if it affects speech later on? His tongue also rests at the roof of his mouth.. is this normal? Thanks
I've not heard of it affecting speech, but I'm not an expert. It might be worth asking if there are any SLTs around as they should be able to answer this for you
I'm not an slt or any kind of health professional but both of my dc had/have high palates but no issues with speech or eating. If his tongue is rest on his plate I believe that's a good thing. Ds's was very high and his tongue couldn't reach the roof of his mouth but no issues from it.
