Dumb this down for me please

Feel so stupid asking this, but thought this was the best place to ask!

Please can someone dumb down the steps to make formula bottles when out and about!

From what I need to do before leaving the house to actually making the feed?!

Particularly in places that I do not have access to water/power etc!

We planned on BF but obviously this hasn't gone to plan, now I feel stuck in the house because I don't know what I'm doing to make a feed out of the house! 😫

You can buy little bottles of ready made formula that you just pour into a sterilised bottle as and when needed. Otherwise there are several different ways but I’d opt for imitating the Perfect Prep machine. So take two flasks if water out with you - one boiling hot and one of cooled boiled water. Also premeasure your formula powder into the designed tubs and have an extra sterilised bottle than you plan to use. When you want to make your bottle up do this - add hot water (2oz for a 6oz bottle) into a sterilised bottle, add formula powder, swirl round, add cooled boiled water to another bottle (4oz for a 6oz bottle) and then pour that water into the bottle that has the hot water and powder in (or you can bypass the spare bottle if the bottle you keep the cool water on has measurements on it so you can judge you are pouring the correct amount). It’s a faff but very straightforward within a few times of doing it.

There are a few different ways to do it.

Two ways I did it was prep a bottle before leaving the house and put it in an insulated bottle bag to keep it warm. If I knew I wouldn't be using it for a couple of hours I'd put just boiling water in, but if I knew I'd be using it sooner I'd do boiling water + cold so that it would be a better temperature for DD. The other way was to measure out the powder into the bottle and bring a separate bottle of cold water. If I was in a cafe I'd ask for a jug of hot water, then I'd put that in with the formula and add the cold water so it was drinkable temperature.

You could also buy the pre-made bottles for when you've got no access to water.

I'd second getting the pre made formula bottles. You can serve them at room temperature, just open and pour straight into the bottle. Easy!
You can get them at most supermarkets (in the uk).

@Plantmoretrees with the pre-made, can I take it from the fridge and let it cool to room temp itself?

The large bottles need to be kept refrigerated and I worry that letting them cool in my bag will cause problems? 😖

I took ready made or just made a bottle before going out which would be fine for two hours after preparing. Using hot water then waiting to cool while out is a faff.

Just get small 200ml/7oz ready made bottles for when you are out and about. Whatever your baby doesn’t drink, you can throw away.

Otherwise, you can either use ready made straight from the fridge or room temperature.

Yes just use the small bottles. It's annoying to take a large one anyway as you'll worry about it spilling. Depending on how long you are going out for you don't need many bottles.

The pre made bottles only need to be kept in the fridge if they have been opened, you can take the little ones out all day in a changing bag without having to keep them cool.
