How much does formula cost a month?

Just wondering. Am thinking that I might work out how much I am saving by breastfeeding and treat myself to a little something to make up for the pain and feeling like a bloody milking machine! Maybe some shoes so I can be a glamourous milking machine!

I know that I am probably equalling it out anyway by the time I factoring the glider chair that I bought and the copious amounts that I am eating, but it's all about psychology here, I need to give myself an incentive to keep on

Depends on age but my lovely dd 6mths I go through about a box and a bit a week - which is about six english pounds per box - she was going through more a few weeks ago but have started solids so slowing down a bit - eat choclate and keep feeding;o)

well, if you buy it the most expensive way in little ready-to-use cartons, it's 50p-ish per 200ml carton, so pay yourself 50p a feed and see how it stacks up...

ermm we pay out around £18-21 a month on formula.

one of these on alternate months.

well, ten years ago, it cost me 6.59 a tin. a tin lasted me a week. so that would be 30 a month.
but that was ten years ago..

a scoop is 4.6g so 196 scoops in a box
currently on 7floz bottles so box makes 28 bottles

6 bottles a day, 42 bottles a week, & 182 a month

182 divided by 28 = 6.5 box a month x £6.96 = £45.24

now double that as I have 17 week old dts

£90.48 a month on formula

don't want to get into a debate, I am already I don't breastfeed, but with a 3.6 yo I couldn't manage on my own.

Actually DD2 doesnt take as much milk as she should and DD1 was on special formula for her reflux which will be why ours is low.

Oooggs - goodness me! That is alot of milk!

Do you know I spend more money on cows milk than petrol each month - we go through 6 pints a day - 42 pints a week - 18 of which we get delivered - to support local milkman but in reality it is costing me fortune! About £80 a month - then although bf at the moment ff will eventually take over and will have to pay for that aswell!

I am not on my 'own' but dh works shifts so I am on my 'own' alot with the children and couldn't cope with bfing and looking after ds1. Sorry if I misled you

octo can empathise on the cows milk, we go through a 6 pint a day too between ds[3] and dd1[19m]

Didn't think it was misleading at all - I often feel like am on my own esp in holidays when dh at work all day and have all of them to deal with. I know this is normal life but am sure lots of people feel the same.

I am tryng to reduce the amount of milk they drink - but I drink atleast a pint or two a day aswell!

Luckily they don't like fizzy stuff - mostly milk, strawberry milkshake, hot choclate, water and fresh juice.

bumper if you go for the average here of £30 a month, given that your DD is nearly 6 weeks that's £45 in the milk bank already
