Infant feeding

Can I sterilize bottles in advance and leave them?

I need to leave my 6mo with MIL for about 6 hours, so will need to allow for a couple of bottle feeds. Baby is basically breastfed but will take formula from a bottle. I want things to be easy for MIL.

Can I sterilize the bottles in advance and leave them in the fridge with the bottle caps in place, and then MIL will take them out and pour in ready-to-feed liquid formula from the tin?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Baby usually gets one bottle a day at bedtime so I'm unsure about the more complicated logistical factors associated with making up bottle feeds.

Yes, with lid on and cap they are fine for 24 hours.

Sterilise them and leave them on the side with lids on
I didn't know this until my son was a few months old despite always bottle feeding him
They are sterile for 24 hours once you have sterilised them if you put lids and caps on them x

Brilliant! Thank you very much. This is what I will do, then.
