The UK appears to definately be catching on to the benefits of silver healing. I saw this on the main page of mumsnet and thought of my much loved Silverette.

I wish i did!

When i was nursing dd1 i had tried everything to heal my nipples and bought loads of things which greatly soothed them but didnt heal them. The a friend recommended the Silverette which i imported from Italy and i was completely healed within 2 days. I love them as they saved my breastfeeding relationship. So as you can imagine they were in my hospital bag for dd2 arriving!

I just wish every nursing mum knew about them as it would save a lot of pain

Do they really help? My boobs are still sore 3 weeks in. Nipples aren't cracked but are tender between feeds.

I used a silver breastpad which definitely helped with healing sore nipples way faster than just Lansinoh.

I had also used the silver breast pad for mastitis last time (have had it 6 times), didnt need antibiotics and it soothed it and cleared it so much quicker than anything else i had previously used.

GRIM, how long did you wear it for? Was it the Silverlon one you had? looks and feels kinda weird but def works

I just needed it for a couple of days. Ds was teething, his latch had gone to pot and had given me a really nasty bite. Seriously, it was horrible as I was feeding him in the dark and I didn't realise he'd broken the skin and kept feeding...blood everywhere .

I was amazed how quickly it healed as I had been really aprehensive about continuing to feed from that side having experienced dreadful pain from nipple damage earlier on.

It wasn't actually Silverlon brand but I think it was exactly the same. I'd been given it to test via Sharon Trotter's TIPS site - how lucky was that?

Next time (if there is one) I'll definitely have Silverette or silver breast pads on hand in preparation. I think it would have made a huge difference to me in those excruciating early weeks. I had an infection in my nipples as well and it might have prevented that.
